National Occupational Standards

There are now National Occupational Standards (NOS) for Reiki practitioners who are offering Reiki treatments to the public. NOS give you guidance on the minimum level of knowledge, understanding and training for a professional Reiki practitioner. They have been developed to be appropriate for all styles of Reiki. They are specifically about practitioner skills and not about Reiki itself.

The NOS for Reiki were developed by Skills for Health and Reiki practitioners working together. Skills for Health is the Sector Skills Council (SSC) for the UK health sector. Its purpose is to help the whole sector develop solutions that deliver a skilled and flexible UK workforce in order to improve health and healthcare.

The core curriculum for the Reiki Council supports the NOS.

CNH1 – Explore and establish the client’s needs for complementary and natural healthcare
CNH2 – Develop and agree plans for complementary and natural healthcare with clients
CNH12 – Provide Reiki to clients

Reiki Council Core Curriculum

The Reiki Council’s Core Curriculum for Reiki was created by the organisations of the Reiki Council to enable Reiki Teachers to put together courses that enable Reiki practitioners to meet the National Occupational Standards (NOS) for Reiki.

Apply for the Reiki Council Professional Practitioner Certificate

The majority of Reiki is taught privately by independent teachers. The Reiki Council aims to support the wide variety of ways that Reiki is taught by private teachers and give recognition to students who have trained in this traditional way.

• this is one reason why we have created the Reiki Council Certificate of Professional Reiki Practitioner
• you can take this directly with the Reiki Council or via some of our member associations
• for volunteering in hospices etc. it is evidence of a professional standard of practice. If you need to join a national register, e.g. CNHC or GRCCT, it will allow you to be automatically accepted
• the logo can be used on your marketing to demonstrate your level of practice.
